To get the most out of the course:

  • Throughout the month-long course, the more you practice the principles and strategies being taught, both during and outside class sessions, the more skillful you’ll become.
  • You'll benefit most if you choose one science topic you can practice on for various exercises.  A science process or sequence of events works best, especially if it has several steps but isn’t overly complex – perhaps just a part of a bigger topic.  We’ll call this your visual communication challenge, or VCC.
  • Bring a very brief written description of your topic to the first class – about 3-6 sentences only.  The last week of the course will be devoted to sharing work on participants’ VCC’s for group analysis and feedback.
  • PLEASE BRING: 10 sheets of blank copier paper, a pencil, a red pen, a blue pen, and your VCC description printed out.
  • In the last week of the course, participants will share the work they’ve done on their VCC topics for 15 minutes of analysis and feedback from others in the group.  This is a 2-way learning experience, providing insight for both the participant and those offering comments.

During registration, you will select ONE of the final session options to attend in the last week:

  • A:  Monday, March 24, 9:30 am - 12 pm
  • B:  Monday, March 24, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
  • C:  Tuesday, March 25, 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm
  • D:  Wednesday, March 26, 9:30 am - 12 pm
