  • A undergraduate research scientific poster session and competition
  • A chance to mingle with like-minded professionals, educators and students interested in changing the face of Biotech
  • An opportunity for "new" Bridge to Bioscience students to share their area of interests with potential mentors
  • The opportunity for mentors or scientists to meet new internship candidates and discuss their scientific interests.
  • Student and industry panels to discuss job search, biotechnician workforce training and education
  • Practice Job Interview Panels to support transition to a life science career or further higher education

Mentoring, panel, and volunteering opportunities:

Check out the mentor panel (2:15-3pm in N-114): Hear from UCSF postdoctoral scholars about their experience mentoring CCSF (City College of San Francisco) interns from the Bridge to Biosciences, which supports students of diverse backgrounds in their transition to science careers.

Engage students (11am-12:30pm in the Genentech Hall Atrium): Consider dropping by for the poster session and engaging CCSF interns around their internship project or meeting potential interns at the "Career Exploration" posters in N-114.

Volunteer (in Genentech Hall): Volunteer a few hours for the event to interview students (9:15-11am) or to lead a Networking Round Table during lunch time.  For more information, contact Ying-Tsu Loh, CCSF Biotechnology Faculty at [email protected].

Mentor an intern in the Fall in your lab: Mentor an intern starting in August 2015 and participate in the OCPD "Mentoring for success" workshop series for postdoctoral scholars. The series, which will start with a Boot Camp in the summer, will help you develop your skills to train, mentor and supervise undergraduate students and technicians of diverse backgrounds. For more information contact Laurence Clement, Program Director of Academic Career Development at UCSF's OCPD at [email protected]. Information session will take place in June.

Food will be provided. Registration for this event is required.
