This 2-hour workshop will provide a comprehensive orientation to grantwriting and the F31 (pre-doctoral) funding mechanism.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Understand various funding mechanisms at the pre-doctoral level
• Plan and organize their approach to grantwriting including preparing a personal grantwriting “battle plan” with timeline for completion
• Develop a research question, training plan, and mentoring plan in consultation with their advisors
• Be oriented to each component of the F 31 application and how to complete them
• Understand how to effectively interact with their program officers and with their advisory team
• Begin the process of preparing and submitting a completed F31 application
